Ajit Pawar Dies in Plane Crash, Maharashtra Declares Three Days of Mourning


Baramati, Maharashtra: Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and one of the state’s most influential political leaders, died in a tragic plane crash early Wednesday while attempting to land at the Baramati airport. Four other people on board the aircraft also lost their lives in the हादसा.


The exact cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed. Officials from India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) are expected to reach the crash site to begin a detailed investigation into the incident.


Following the tragic news, the Maharashtra government announced three days of official mourning across the state. During this period, national flags will be flown at half-mast, and all government offices and schools will remain closed as a mark of respect.


Ajit Pawar’s body has been kept at Baramati hospital, where large crowds of supporters, party workers, and family members have gathered to pay their final respects. The funeral is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 11:00 am (05:30 GMT), and he will be cremated with full state honours.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep shock and grief over Pawar’s death, calling it an “irreparable loss to Maharashtra and Indian politics.” Home Minister Amit Shah and several other national and state leaders are expected to attend the funeral.


Ajit Pawar’s political career spanned several decades, during which he held key ministerial positions and played a major role in shaping the political landscape of Maharashtra. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves across the country, with condolences pouring in from political leaders across party lines.


The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities have assured that all possible angles, including technical failure and weather conditions, will be examined.
