Bollywood Mourns the Loss of Actor Mukul Dev at 54

Veteran actor Mukul Dev, renowned for his versatile roles in both Bollywood films and television, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the age of 54. He had been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to health complications. 

Mukul Dev’s career spanned various mediums and languages. He made his Bollywood debut in 1996 with the film Dastak, starring alongside Sushmita Sen. His notable film credits include Son of Sardaar, Yamla Pagla Deewana, R… Rajkumar, and Jai Ho.  On television, he was recognized for his performances in popular shows such as Pyar Zindagi Hai, Gharwali Uparwali, and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki. 

Beyond acting, Mukul Dev was a trained pilot and had worked as an aviation trainer before transitioning to the entertainment industry. 

The news of his demise has elicited heartfelt tributes from colleagues and fans alike. Actor Manoj Bajpayee expressed his grief, stating, “Gone too soon, too young. Praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone grieving this loss.”  Close friend and actor Vindu Dara Singh remembered him as “like a brother,” highlighting the deep bonds Mukul shared within the industry. 

Mukul Dev is survived by his brother, actor Rahul Dev, and his daughter, Sia Dev. His passing marks a significant loss to the Indian entertainment industry, where he was celebrated for his talent, charisma, and dedication to his craft.
