Massive Fire Erupts at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant’s SMS-2 Unit, Disrupting Operations

A significant fire broke out early this morning at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant’s Steel Melting Shop-2 (SMS-2), leading to substantial disruptions in production and raising concerns over industrial safety. 

According to plant officials, the blaze was triggered by an oil leak in Machine-2. Sparks ignited the leaked oil, causing the fire to spread rapidly to nearby cables and machinery. 

Emergency response teams were promptly dispatched to the scene. Firefighters are actively working to contain the flames and prevent further damage. As of now, there have been no reports of casualties. 

The incident has significantly impacted the plant’s operations, with production in the SMS-2 unit halted. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and investigating the exact cause of the fire.
